How to get to Sapa from Hanoi, Vietnam?

Hanoi to Sapa by train

For a more genuine Vietnam experience, if time permits, board a train from Hanoi to Sapa. As you go from one place to another at a leisurely pace on a train, you may relax and take in the sights.

Trains run often between 9:35 pm and 10:00 pm, and tickets cost between 150,000 and 1,200,000 VND / per person, depending on the class of seat. The trains in question all make their way from Tran Quy Cap Railway Station to Lao Cai Railway Station.

A train journey from Hanoi to Lao Cai takes about 8 hours. From Lao Cai Railway Station, you will transfer 65 minutes to the captivating town of Sapa.

 

 

Oriental Express Train

It is a popular choice for many tourists traveling from Hanoi to Sapa, offering supreme comfort. The train provides sleeper 4-berth (Deluxe) or sleeper 2-berth (VIP) berths, designed in a modern style and air-conditioned.

There are no bathrooms, but restrooms are conveniently located at the end of each carriage. Water and snacks are provided free of charge to all passengers.

The Oriental Express is probably the most popular choice because of its reasonable price. Soft beds in the deluxe rooms start at US$35 per person, and VIP rooms cost US$70 per person.

The trains depart daily from Hanoi at 22:00 and arrive in Lao Cai the following day at 5:55

 

King Express Train

The company offers two types of cabin: Sleeper 4-berth (Deluxe) and Sleeper 2-berth (VIP). All berths are wooden-paneled, air-conditioned with individual reading lights and baggage storage.

Passengers are served a very tasty drink in the morning upon arrival in Lao Cai or Hanoi.

Tickets cost between $34 and $66 per person, and the journey lasts approximately 8 hours.

Victoria Express Train

The Victoria Express Train will be the best option for tourists who want to experience the most luxurious and expensive train in Vietnam. There are Sleeper 4-berth (Superior) and Sleeper 2-berth (Deluxe).

Decorated with wood paneling in all the cabins and bathrooms, the theme is a fusion of Western and Eastern styles. The trains serve excellent evening snacks and also breakfast. Both of the toilets on board are clean and modern, equipped with a touchless toilet flush kit.

• Departure time: 22:00 from Hanoi, arriving in Lao Cai the following day at 5:55. Please note that there are trains every day except Saturday.

 

 

Hanoi to Sapa by bus

Alternatively, if you're traveling on a budget, you can take a bus from Hanoi all the way through to Sapa. By bus from Hanoi to Sapa, you are looking at approximately 5.5-6 hours, and a cost of 10 USD and up.

Ta Phin village is a tranquil ecotourism spot encircled by mountains, situated at a height of 1600m on the slope of Lo Suay Tong hill. Lush green plantations of indigenous crops, including rice, paddy, hemp, and indigo, define the hamlet.

You may take a therapeutic bath, stroll around the agricultural terraces, or watch skilled craftspeople at work. Here you may also find the ruins of an old monastery.

 

Ham Rong Mountain
